The 2016 International Press Image Exhibition will return to the Brisbane Powerhouse for a month-long stay on July twenty-ninth. Jogging because of the Nineteen Fifties, this year’s contest drew entries from around the world: 5,775 photographers from 128 nations submitted 82,951 images. The jury gave prizes in eight classes to forty-two photographers from 21 countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, and America.
The grand identity of worldwide Press Photograph was presented to Australian photographer Warren Richardson, making it a key feature in this 12 months’ exhibition. Shooting the moment whilst a fleeing refugee passes a little one baby via an opening within the Hungarian border security fence, Budapest-based totally Richardson relied best on moonlight to light the photograph, playing “cat and mouse with the police the entire night time.”
Jury member Vaughn Wallace stated of the piece: “We’ve visible lots of pix of migrants in every shape of their adventure; however, this picture truely stuck my eye… This isn’t the case of one journey; however, it’s the final touch of one stage of a very, very lengthy destiny. So for me, this needed to be the Photograph of the year.”

Running from Friday, July 29th till Sunday, August 21st, the sector Press Image Exhibition will take vicinity at Brisbane Powerhouse, commencing each night till 9pm.
